Welcome to the ASCVTS 2016 and ASPVS 2016 to be held in Taipei

The 24th Annual Meeting of Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS) in conjunction with 9th AATS/ASCVTS Postgraduate Course and 4th Asia Single Port VATS Symposium will be held in Taipei International Convention Center (ITCC) in Taipei, Taiwan from April 6-10, 2016.

ASCVTS 2016

ASCVTS annual meeting was first hosted in Fukuoka, Japan in 1993 and have grown to hosting over one thousand attendees in recent years. Over the years, the congress has been instrumental in the advancement of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery which has made a great stride toward the provision of an International discussion forum as evidenced by the number of successful meetings held so far. Previous ASCVTS were successfully held in Thailand (2011), Indonesia (2012), Japan (2013), Turkey (2014), Hong Kong (2015). 

ASCVTS 2016 in Taipei will indeed present the most up-to-dated scientific evidence through our comprehensive scientific program which will cover a wide range of topics to be presented in the invited speakers’ lectures, educational sessions, as well as the abstract-based program, including Adult Cardiac, Congenital, General Thoracic, Basic Science Research, Critical Care, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Nursy and Single Port. 

ASPVS 2016

During this joint event, the 4th Asia Single Port VATS Symposium will specifically be held from April 9-10, 2016. 

ASPVS meeting was first hosted in Hong Kong. Previous ASPVS were successfully held in Hong Kong (2013), Korea (2014) and Hong Kong (2015). ASPVS 2016 in Taipei will indeed present the most up-to-dated scientific evidence through our comprehensive scientific program which will cover a wide range of topics to be presented in the invited speakers’ lectures, educational sessions.

Dr. Chia-Chuan Liu is the Director for the symposium and Dr. Calvin Ng and Dr. Yu-Ming Zhu serve as co-Director. The Executive Member includes Dr. Alan Sihoe, Dr. Po-Kuei Hsu, Dr. Yin-Kai Chao, Dr. Wen-Chien Huang and Dr. Hyun-Koo Kim. 

As the academic support for the whole event, Journal of Thoracic Disease (JTD) is honored to work with Dr. Chia-Chuan Liu and Dr. Po-Kuei Hsu for a focused issue dedicated to the 4th Asia Single Port VATS Symposium. The focused issue is expected to provide state-of-the-art knowledge and will allow for the ongoing understanding on Single Port VATS. With the invitation, our Editors of JTD is glad to attend the conference to exhibit the focused issue and meet our authors and readers at the booth (named “AME Publishing Company”). Series reports for the conferences will follow up.
