Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is an uncommon but highly aggressive tumour of the mesothelial lining of the thoracic cavity that is associated with asbestos exposure (1). It can develop from inhaled needle-like asbestos fibers that can become trapped in the lungs.
