The elusive ground glass opacity, revealed

Melissa L. Korb, Bryan M. Burt

Abstract

A ground glass opacity (GGO) is a radiographic finding that is defined as a hazy opacity that does not obscure underlying bronchial structures or pulmonary vessels on high-resolution CT. In 2013, the Fleischner Society published a set of recommendations for the classification and management of these lesions, which was updated in 2017 (1,2).
