Primary spontaneous pneumothorax: time for surgery at first episode?

Abstract

Primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) generally occurs in healthy young people between the ages of 10 and 30 years (1). It remains an important global health problem with an annual incidence of 7.4–18 (age-adjusted incidence) and 1.2–6 cases per 100,000 population, among men and women respectively.
