It is usually a disease of the young age with it being more common in tall thin males. Secondary spontaneous pneumothorax (SSP) refers to a pneumothorax associated with an underlying lung disease and is usually a disease of the more elderly population with a significantly higher morbidity and mortality in comparison to primary pneumothorax.
