Giovanni Zaninotto, born in 1951, graduated in Medicine at University of Padua (Italy) in 1976, and completed his residency in general surgery in the same University in 1981.

He spent one year as Research fellow in Thoracic Surgery at Creighton University (Omaha, Ne U.S.A.) with Prof T.R. DeMeester from 1986 to 1987.

In 1991 he was appointed associated Professor at the University of Padua and in 2012 was appointed full professor of Surgery.

In 2013 he moved to the Department of Cancer & Surgery of the Imperial College (St. Mary’s campus) in London UK where he is still Visiting Professor of Surgery.

He is Visiting Professor at the Humanitas University (Milan, Italy)

He is currently the Editor in Chief of Diseases of the Esophagus, the official journal of the International Society of Esophageal Disease (ISDE).

He is Consultant for Esophageal Diseases at the Abano Hospital (Abano, Padova Italy)

His main interests are benign esophageal diseases, achalasia, hiatal hernia and esophageal cancer.

He Authored 166 articles on peer review journals (H-30 Index: 50) .
