Mr Ioannis Dimarakis is a Consultant Cardiac and Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgeon at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, United Kingdom. He received his Medical Degree in 1998 from the University of Athens, and his PhD in 2008 from Imperial College London.
His clinical interests include all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. Particular interests include aortic surgery, redo surgery, DCD heart transplantation, and durable LVAD surgery.
His research interests span from basic science to surgical database analysis. He has edited a number of books on stem cell therapy. Furthermore he is a reviewer for several journals and has (co) authored several book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed publications.
He also serves as Associate Editor for the Extracorporeal Technologies section of the Interactive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery journal.
