Dr. Mastrobuoni is a consultant surgeon in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Saint-Luc’s Hospital, Catholic University of Louvain, in Brussels (Belgium).Dr. Mastrobuoni graduated from the Medical School of the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome in 2002. He pursued the specialist training in cardiac surgery in the same University and at the University of Navarre in Spain. He obtained the certificate of completion of training in 2007. He further completed a 3-year advanced fellowship at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (Canada) in 2012. In 2012-13 he attended a Master program in Public Health in the concentration of Quantitative Methods at Harvard-Chan School of Public Health. He joined the adult cardiac surgery team led by prof. G. El Khoury at Saint-Luc’s hospital in Brussels in 2013. His main fields of interest are: heart transplantation, LVADs, valve repair and cost-effectiveness analysis. He has published several papers and presented at major international meetings the results of valve-sparing root replacement surgery, the Ross operation, and mitral valve repair. He is member of several scientific societies and serves as reviewer for several journals. He speaks fluently 4 languages.
