Akiteru Goto, MD, PhD

In 1995, Dr. Goto graduated The University of Tokyo, School of Medicine, and received his medical degree. In 1999, he received his Doctor of Philosophy from Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo. In 2001, he completed his pathology residency at Kyorin University Hospital, Tokyo, Japan, to become a board certified pathologist. From 2007 to 2009, he stayed at CCR/NCI/NIH, USA, as a post-doctoral fellow. In 2010, Dr. Goto joined the faculty at the Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo, where he became a lecturer. In 2011, Dr. Goto was recruited to Akita University as a professor.

Dr. Goto’s research interest of lung cancer is wide and extending from histopathology to molecular biology and mathematical biology. His research has been funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and other organizations. He has published 85 papers.
