Dr Di Michele Mauro was born on July 1973, is married and has 2 children.

He is a Cardiac Surgeon at SS Annunziata Hospital - University “G D’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, Italy and Research Fellow at Maastricht University.

His main research interests include cardiac surgery for heart failure, mitral and tricuspid valve surgery, prognostic role of right ventricle, endocarditis, CABG, preoperative cardiac risk stratification, development and validation of risk score, biostatistic, echocardiography.

Dr Di Mauro started his cardiac surgery training in Chieti at the University “G D’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara with a fellowship at the Bristol Heart Institute, University of Bristol, UK (1999-2004). He started his cardiology training at the University of L’Aquila (2010-2015) and he have got PhD in cardiovascular science at University of L’Aquila in 2017.

Dr Di Mauro has got the Italian Certification as Associate Professor in Cardiovascular Science (2018-2024)

He is member of the European Ass for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery (SICCH; Member of Directive Board), Society of Thoracic Surgeon (STS), European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and ESC-Heart Failure. He is also member of the GIROC (Italian Research Group on Cardiac Outcomes) and head of research for the Italian Endocarditis Registry.

He serves as invited reviewer of many peer-reviewed journals and has contributed on several chapters. Dr Di Mauro is author or co-author of more than 142 publications in peer-reviewed journals ( Google Scholar H index 32, IF: 509).

He sits on several Editorial Boards, including Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery for the American Association for Thoracic Surgeon (AATS), Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine.
