Andrea Bille, MD, PhD, FRCS

Dr Bille is a consultant in Thoracic Surgery at Guy’s Hospital London, UK. His main research interests include surgical treatment and multimodality approach for mesothelioma, thymic tumors and minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of lung cancer.

Dr Bille attended Medical School at University of Turin. He trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery (2006-2011) in Turin (Italy) and at Guy’s Hospital (London, UK). He qualified in 2011. He then did a clinical fellowship at Guy’s Hospital in mesothelioma surgery and minimally invasive thoracic surgery. In 2012 he was appointed as a consultant at the National Institute of Cancer in Milan, focusing on minimally invasive surgical treatment of lung cancer,  thoracic sarcoma and mediastinal tumor which require complex reconstruction.

He was awarded a PhD in 2015 following a 3 year research program on surgical treatment of mesotheloma.

Pursuing a particular interest in the surgical thoracic oncology, he did a clinical fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (2014/2015), the first ranked oncological center in US. He was appointed consultant thoracic surgeon at Guy’s & St Thomas’ hospital in 2015.

He has published more than 60 scientific articles and has made many presentations at national and international meetings. He has been involved as co-author in the 8th edition of TNM classification for mesothelioma. He is in charge of the European Registry of Mesothelioma and he is associate editor of the thoracic section of Tumori Journal.
