Emilio Esteban González, MD

Dr. Emilio Esteban obtained his medical degree degree in October 1982 from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Oviedo, Asturias, Spain. He went to obtain a position as medical internal resident and was accepted for the post of post of medical oncologist in the Central University Hospital of Asturias where he specialised between June 1984 and December 1987. From January 1988, he obtained a staff post in the same hospital. Since then he has been working in medical care, research and teaching.

He obtained a doctorate in medicine and surgery at the University of Oviedo with the qualification of " Apto Cum Laude" in April 1994. Since 2009, he is titular professor of the University Faculty of Medicine to take on the subject of medical oncology and Since 2010 is Chief of medical oncology service in the Central University Hospital of Asturias. At the present time, he is involved in clinical work and research related tonon-small- cell-lung cancer, breast cancer and genitourinary cancer. He is the chairman to the Instituto Universitario Oncológico del Principado de Asturias (IUOPA) involved in pharmacological laboratory research to gemcitabine and pemetrexed among others with results published in recognized international medical journals articles, abstract, and books chapters. He has frequently been invited to speak at both national and international conferences and is associate editor of “Oncología” and is a reviewer for several international journals asBritish Journal of Cancer, Biomed, Drugs, Expert Reviews, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, Oncology, Advances in Therapy, Clinical and Translational Oncology, Cancer Treatment Review, Therapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology y World Journal of Surgical Oncology (WJSO. Dr. Esteban is a member of the following medical societies: Since 6th May 1990, member of the“Sociedad española de Oncología Médica”. Since 4th December 1995 of the European Society for Medical Oncology. Since 1999 I have been member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
