Shunsuke Endo, MD

Dr. Endo is currently a chief professor of Surgery at the Jichi Medical University and interested in challenging surgery including redo-surgery other than thoracoscopic surgery. He graduated from the School of Medicine, Tsukuba University and completed his Surgical Residence at the Tsukuba University Hospital, Ibaraki, Japan. Thereafter, he did research about hemodynamic in the aorta at the McGill University, Canada as a postdoctoral fellow. He transferred to Jichi Medical University, Japan, as a staff surgeon of the department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery since 1996 and as a professor of the department of the Thoracic Surgery since 2007.
Dr. Endo has been dedicated to organize the section of the general thoracic surgery in the Japanese national clinical database which was launched at 2011. The registered data reached up to 300,000 cases including 120,000 lung cancer surgeries since 2014. The following papers using this big database have been published since 2016.

Dr. Endo’s research focuses on the changes of flow pattern in left atrium after lobectomy or pneumonectomy. These are supposed to be related to arrhythmia and thrombus formation.
He has published about 200 international papers ranging from case reports to clinical study and basic researches about hemodynamic.
Dr. Endo is now supporting the annual meeting of Japanese Association for Chest Surgery (JACS meeting) 2019 (Osaka) as a vice chairperson followed by JACS meeting 2020 as an expected chairperson. The meeting 2020 will be held at Tokyo, Odaiba where the Tokyo Summer Olympic 2020 will be scheduled.
