Gui-bin Qiao, MD, PhD (Focused Issue: New Lung Adenocarcinoma Classification)

Dr. Qiao is the Director and Professor of Department of Thoracic Surgery, General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Command of PLA, and serves as a professor of Southern Medical University, China. He completed his medical studies at Fourth Military Medical University and attained his PH.D degree at Sun Yat-sen University, China. Under the support of DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) scholarship, he studied at the University of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and received another doctorate in 2005.

Professor Qiao has been actively involved in the clinical and translational research of thoracic diseases. He is capable of full range of thoracic surgical procedures and specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery. His main interesting area focuses on the multidisciplinary treatment of lung cancer. He edited the book of “bronchioloalveolar carcinoma”, and published more than 50 scientific papers in top-ranked journals.

Professor Qiao is the committee member of Chinese Society of Lung Cancer. He is also the head of several provincial academic organizations including Guangdong Society of Thoracic Oncology and Guangdong Society of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery. He is a reviewer of several journals including Lung Cancer, Journal of Thoracic Oncology and Chinese Journal of Medicine. He serves on several editorial boards including Journal of Thoracic Disease, Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery and International Journal of Oncology.
