Branislav Jeremic is Professor of Radiation Oncology at the BioIRC, R&D Centre for Biomedical Research in Kragujevac, Serbia. He obtained both his MD, specialist as well as PhD diplomas and degrees in Serbia. This was followed by a number of short and long term clinical and basic science trainings in various institutions worldwide.

In his 30-year long professional career as clinician and researcher, optimization of the treatment of lung cancer remains one of his major interests. Altered fractionation radiotherapy regimens and combined radiotherapy and drug therapy continues to be his clinical and research focus.

He had designed and executed as PI 15 clinical trials in lung cancer and subsequently published dozens of influential papers in major oncological journals worldwidewhich helped shape clinical practices in thoracic oncology in the past 2 decades. He is the author of the seminal book “Advances in Radiation Oncology” which had two successful editions in 2004 and 2011.

He is a member of many professional societies and holds honorary membership in several foreign professional societies. He is frequent visiting professor at major universities and frequent invited lecturer at major conferences worldwide. He is recipient of many prizes and awards for his research including those of ICC, UICC, IASLC, JSPS and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. As an employee of the IAEA, he had shared a Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 (all employees and then Director, M. El-Baradei) and was principal organizer of a continental (Africa) cancer event in Cape Town in 2006.
