Tomoya Kawaguchi, MD, PhD

Dr. Kawaguchi graduated Osaka City University and received his medical degree from the School of Medicine at 1988. He joined the faculty at the National Hospital Organization Kinki-chuo Chest Medical Center, Osaka, Japan at 1996, where he became a director of Internal Medicine at 2010. Dr. Kawaguchi was a research fellow at University of California Davis Cancer Center, USA during 2001-2002. He became Associate Professor, Department of Respiratory Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka City University at 2014, and has been Director, Chemotherapy Center, Osaka City University Hospital since 2014. He has been Chair and Professor, Department of Respiratory Medicine, Department of Medical Oncology, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka City University since 2018.

He has served as a Councilor of Japan Society of Respiratory Medicine, Japan Society of Lung Cancer and Japan Society of Medical Oncology as well as a Director of Japan Society of Bronchoscopy. He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.

Dr. Kawaguchi’s research focuses on diagnosis and treatment in lung cancer. He has published many articles, including the DELTA study and the JME study which were published at Journal of Clinical Oncology at 2014 and 2016, respectively.
