Dr. Alfonso Ielasi is a senior interventional cardiologist at the Cardiology Division of the Bolognini Hospital Seriate, ASST Bergamo Est, Italy.
Dr. Ielasi has authored more than 150 manuscripts and abstracts, published in peer-reviewed literature. His areas of expertise include interventional therapies of acute coronary syndromes, unprotected left main, and complex coronary artery disease. Furthermore he is interested in the performance of interventional devices such as newer generation drug-eluting stents, drug coated ballons and bioresorbable vascular scaffolds (BVS). In particular, he is actually the Principal Investigator of an ongoing Italian multicenter study aiming to assess the feasibilty and the impact of a pre-defined BVS implantation strategy in ST-segment elavation myocardial infarction patients (BVS STEMI STRATEGY-IT study).
Dr Ielasi completed medical school at Alma Mater Studiorum University, Bologna, and his internship at the Cardio-Thoracic-Vascular Department of S.Orsola Hospital in Bologna. He completed his general cardiology residency and fellowship at Vita Salute University, San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, under Professor Maseri, followed by a dedicated fellowship in advanced coronary angioplasty and general interventional cardiology with Dr Antonio Colombio at San Raffaele Hospital and EMO GVM Columbus Hospital.
