Ki-Bong Kim, MD, PhD

Professor, Dept. of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul, Korea

Professor Kim graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine and received his surgical training at Seoul National University Hospital in Korea. Between 1992 and 1994, he was a Research Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis, USA, under Professor James Cox. He is currently Professor at Dept. of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, Seoul National University Hospital in Seoul. 

He is the member of 9 professional societies including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS). Professor Kim plays leadership roles at several Korean cardiovascular specialty committees. He has contributed to more than 100 original articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a frequently invited speaker at regional or international conferences.

Professor Kim’s major research and clinical interests are myocardial ischemia-protection, atrial fibrillation and Maze procedure, CABG surgery and off-pump CABG, surgery for ischemic LV dysfunction.
