Ioannis Psallidas

Dr. Psallidas graduated from the medical school of Athens in 2007 with a distinction and then continued with his specialisation in Respiratory Medicine in General and Attikon University Hospitals in Athens, Greece. He finished his Ph.D in pleural disease in 2012 and his training in Respiratory Medicine in 2013. He has been awarded with National (CCT) and European Certification in Respiratory Medicine (HERMES diploma-ERS). He moved to the UK in 2013 with a Fellowship from the European Respiratory Society for further training in respiratory interventions and clinical studies. He has been awarded with a NHS Fellowship in Pleural Disease/Lung Cancer in 2014 and with a prestigious RESPIRE2 European Respiratory Fellowship in 2015. Dr Psallidas is currently a Honorary Consultant Respiratory Physician at Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 

Dr. Psallidas is the main author of many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in pleural disease and lung cancer. He is currently running multicentre Clinical Trials in Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit and he is the principal investigator in Pleural Translational Research Laboratory. 

His strong interest in pleural disease is the driving force behind his active involvement in European Respiratory Society and he is the co-Head of Pleural Disease Interest Group in Hellenic Thoracic Society.  He is a member of the forthcoming guidelines from European Respiratory Society in Mesothelioma and Malignant Pleural Effusion.
