Dr. Dong is a Clinical Fellow in the Cardiothoracic Department of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. In 2014, he was an invited Visiting Fellow at St George Hospital, Sydney and the UNSW Australia where he subsequently completed his postdoctoral studies in the Department of Immunology. He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Australian Chinese Biomedical Scientist Association (ACBSA) and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association (CMDA). In addition, he serves as a section editor of the Journal of Thoracic Disease (JTD), and as a young editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Clinical Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (CJCTCS) as well serving on several SCI indexed journals as a peer reviewer.Dr. Dong received training in thoracic surgery and surgical intensive care unit (SICU) at Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. His surgical work is based on the multidisciplinary treatment of esophageal and lung cancer, the treatment of thymoma combined with myasthenia gravis comprehensive, and the minimally invasive surgical treatment for reflux esophagitis, esophageal hiatal hernia and other diseases. In intensive care, he worked on the treatment of critically ill patients and is proficient in mechanical ventilation, airway cleaning by fiberoptic bronchoscopy, heart evaluation by echocardiography and continuous blood purification treatments. His main scientific research directions are related to the mechanisms of esophageal malignancy, obesity and gastroenteric/gynecologic cancer and the system evaluation on clinical cardiopulmonary function. He has completed a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Project as the senior principal investigator. In the last five years, Dr. Dong has produced more than 30 peer-reviewed publications with over 120 citations and 7 patents. He was editor a medical book titled “Examples on clinical arterial blood gases by ‘Two-Five-Step’ quick diagnostic method’’ published by the Peking University Medical Press in 2014.
