Dr. Ko Pen Wang re-joins the Interventional Pulmonology teamat Johns Hopkins. As a pioneer in the field, Dr. Wang was thefirst to describe the transbronchial needle aspiration techniquein the United States, revolutionizing the diagnosis and stagingof patients with lung cancer. He is a recent recipient of theprestigious Pasquale Ciaglia Memorial Award in InterventionalMedicine, awarded by the American College of Chest Physicianswhich honors physicians well known for their work and impacton the field of interventional pulmonology.

With a focus on all aspects of advanced airway diagnosticprocedures, Dr. Wang’s specialties include endobronchialultrasound (EBUS), conventional transbronchial needleaspiration (TBNA) and bronchoscopy for the diagnosis ofsolitary pulmonary nodules and masses.

His research centers on novel techniques to improve the yieldof TBNA, and he has a special interest in education for fellows,residents and medical students as well as international outreachregarding bronchoscopic education.
