Dr. Roberto F. Casal is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Clinical Research at the Department of Pulmonary Medicine of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC), in Houston. He is a graduate from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following his training in Interventional Pulmonology at MDACC, he became Director if Interventional Pulmonology at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston) from 2009-2016.
Dr. Casal’s research interest is in advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy as well as therapeutic bronchoscopy and pleural disease. Based on his multiple publications including some of the earliest randomized controlled trials in EBUS, he has been recognized with the “Geoffrey McLennan Memorial Award for Advances in Interventional Pulmonology” from the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) in 2015. He has also served in the Board of Directors of the AABIP from 2013-2017 and he is currently the Editor in Chief for the WABIP On-Line Library.
