Marc J. Licker, MD

Dr. Licker is currently Full Professor of Anesthesiology & Reanimation, especially dedicated to Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at the University Hospital in Geneva. Hhe received his medical degree from the Catholic University Louvain (Belgium) and completed his Residency and Fellowship in Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal (McGill University, Canada) and at the Sart-Tilman Hospital (University of Liege, Belgium).

Dr Licker’s research mainly focuses on myocardial protection in cardiac surgery, perioperative lung protective strategies in mechanically ventilated patients as well as the identification and control of risk factors of major complications after major non-cardiac surgery.

He has been Principal Investigator or Co-PI on over 10 funded Control Randomized Trials in the field of perioperative organ protection.

He has published over 180 papers and has written over 10 book chapters.
