Published: 2017-07-05

With the successful completion of the AATS Focus 2017 on Thoracic Surgery: Lung and Esophageal Cancer meeting in Beijing, let’s anticipate and greet the AATS Focus in 2018.

AATS Focus is an annual grand educational event of AATS, and has become an indispensible academic feasts along with other AATS activities in cardiothoracic surgery for cardiothoracic surgeons all over the world.

Both lung and esophageal disease remain a global concern as two of the deadliest issues facing patients and thoracic surgeons. The AATS Focus on Thoracic Surgery: Lung and Esophageal Cancer meeting keeps concentrating on the complex nature of treating both lung and esophageal disease while also discussing innovative approaches to increasing the care provided to our patients.

The AATS Focus 2018 will be held in Guangzhou, jointly organized by AATS, Dr. Jianxing He (as the Chinese host), the President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, and AME Publishing Company.

As a prelude for the cooperation, on June 30, 2017 in Beijing, Dr. Alexander Patterson, the AATS Program Director, Dr. Jianxing He, the event host in China, and Ms. Grace S. Li, , representative of AME Publishing Company, have signed an agreement to start the preparation for AATS Focus 2018 (figure 1).

Continuing the excellent experience of the event, AATS Focus 2018 will feature a mixture of lectures, relevant case studies, panel discussions and videos. The faculty includes local and internationally recognized experts in lung and esophageal disease to ensure attendees receive insights from a broad spectrum of leaders in the field of thoracic surgery.

As a new partner in the event organization, AME has been actively supporting the academic promotion of the previous events by providing media coverage in China and worldwide via its academic platforms. For this event, AME will spare no effort to work with Dr. Patterson, Dr. He and the AATS to publish a meeting supplement in Journal of Thoracic Disease (IF in 2016: 2.365) and host the surgical video contests to provide an opportunity for the young surgeons with the winners being invited to present their surgical video at the AATS Focus 2018 and publish in Journal of Thoracic Disease.

We will try our best with AATS, Dr. Patterson and Dr. He to make sure the AATS Focus 2018 is a fantastic journey in Guangzhou for you!
