This focused issue on “Interventional Pulmonology in the Intensive Care Unit” is edited by Dr. Rahul Nanchal and Jonathan S. Kurman, from Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI, USA; and Dr. Ashutosh Sachdeva, from University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, MD, USA.

Dr. Rahul Nanchal is Associate Professor of Medicine and serves as the director of the medical intensive unit and critical care fellowship program at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. He has a special interest in the care of patients with hepatic critical illness and his research focuses on outcomes of critically ill patients.

Dr. Jonathan S. Kurman is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Director of Interventional Pulmonology for the Froedtert & MCW health network. He completed an interventional pulmonology fellowship at the University of Chicago and pulmonary & critical care training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His interests are in diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, including airway stents, robotic bronchoscopy, endobronchial valves, next generation navigational bronchoscopy, bronchial thermoplasty, photodynamic therapy, and bronchoscopy education.

Dr. Ashutosh Sachdeva completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, in Saint Louis, Missouri. Upon completion of his fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine he stayed on as faculty in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine for three years. He then spent a year at Virginia Commonwealth Health Sciences in Richmond, advancing his training in interventional pulmonology.
